The RYC Learn to Sail program is designed to teach participants how to sail by following the national CANSail Program. Our program can accommodate all levels of experience, with sailors learning in pairs C420's, or alone or in pairs in Optis or Laser sailboats. Sailors sail everyday, weather permitting. Please see the Learn to Sail Calendar of Events for activities for each Session.

If your preferred session is full, we recommend you first add your name to the waitlist, but also to a session which has availability, as we cannot guarantee names will be drawn from the waitlist. If a spot becomes available, parents will be contacted by the Director of the Learn to Sail program and given 48 hours to enrol in the new session.
What Learn to Sail Level should my sailor be registered?
If your child is 7 - 8 years old and has no experience with boating of any kind, they should be registered in Wet Feet.
If your child is 8+ and is new to sailing, they cab register in Wet Feet or Learn To Sail CANSail Levels 1 and 2.
If your child is 8+ and has taken sailing lessons before, but you are unsure of the CANSail Level they have completed, please go to Checklick at checklick.com. There you can search your child’s name and see what level they have completed.
Note: All CANSail levels will be taught at each of the 4 sessions.
Program Schedule: 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday
Adult Learn to Sail - TBD
Please indicate if you are interested in participating in the Wednesday Night Dinghy races. They begin at 5:30 pm and are supervised by instructor(s). Sailors can bring a friend or family member as crew.
RYC DINGHY REGATTA will be held on Aug 12 & 13th, 2023. Registration link will be provided to all Learn to Sail Participants
